RIP Brenda Leyland TROLLED & Hounded to Death by the PRO McCann Machine

I am not going to use the tragic death of a woman and Mother to propagate further my opinions and views on the Madeleine McCann case.

Those views are well established and in the public domain for anyone who so cares to read them.

Presumably, given that Carole Malone hasn’t yet done a piece about me in her servile, insidious column or Martin Brunt, (a man whom I actually like, respect and admire), hasn’t yet knocked on my door to confront me about those views suggests to me that I haven’t committed the same offence that Brenda Leyland apparently did.

She is the lady who was “outed” by Sky News and other media outlets and newspapers as one of the McCanns “Vile Trolls”.

A lady whom, despite being reported as seemingly having made “death threats” on Twitter, has in fact, apparently never made any such threat to anyone.

The Internet is awash with people who don’t believe the McCann’s version of events surrounding what happened to their daughter, Madeleine. They’re not TROLLS. They’re just people with an opinion who have noticed the glaring contradictions between what is reported in the UK Press and what both the Portuguese and British POLICE opined and formulated.

Many of these people express their opinions with a distinct lack of articulation; devoid of much literary prowess.  Some, are unquestionably abusive, hurtful, insensitive and indeed, offensive.

That doesn’t make them illegal.

For whatever reason, Brenda Leyland was singled out to exemplify that faction of Social networking which continues to discuss and deliberate the McCann case differently from how it is so portrayed in the Press. Differently from how the McCann’s and their supporters want the case reported.

I did not know Brenda. I have never knowingly communicated with her in any manner. When Sky NEWS doorstepped her and she became news headlines elsewhere I did do some superficial research, including reviewing her tweets.

For the RECORD:- this lady NEVER tweeted anything that could be construed by ANYONE as a threat of violence to either the McCann's, their twins, or anyone ELSE for that matter.

Furthermore, (unlike previous high-profile prosecutions of people who have abused and threatened others on Twitter), given that the McCann's do not HAVE a Twitter presence, how can this lady possibly have trolled or abused them?

Amongst the expansive number of her tweets I have read, the worst, perhaps, was where she hoped the McCann's “suffered for the rest of their miserable lives”.

It was a foolish, foolhardy and deeply insensitive tweet to make, even if she did genuinely mean it....BUT........

She didn’t deserve to be exposed and identified, her name, address and personal details made publicly available.

She didn’t deserve to be labelled “evil”.

She didn’t deserve to be subjected to such threats and abuse by the myriad of McCann supporters whose cruel taunts and vilification by far exceeded anything she was reported to have allegedly done.

She didn’t deserve to be stigmatised and crucified by a baying, servile PRO McCann media and its supporters, hell bent on indoctrinating a British public as to their ideaology where the McCann case is concerned.

Most of all, she didn’t deserve to die....... alone and helpless...... in some soulless and anonymous little hotel room where she had fled; castigated by the accusatory Pro McCann machine.

Such heart and gut-wrenching, bitter, bitter irony that someone should so lose their LIFE after being hounded and trolled by a Media and PRESS hell bent on portraying her as someone who had hounded and trolled others.

My fervent HOPE and wish is that this tragedy will inspire others to do their OWN research, reviews and investigations into the available facts and evidence surrounding the McCann case, where they can then formulate their OWN opinions, rather than have them shaped and made for them by the mainstream Media.

I know Martin Brunt and I know he is a good man. We have never met but we follow each other on Twitter and I have worked on several investigative projects that he has orchestrated. I also know he will be devastated and hurt by this development.

I am not excusing his actions but it would be wrong to solely blame him for Brenda’s demise. Not least because Martin, as a STAFF reporter, is duty bound to follow the Editorial policy and procedure of his company, as are all TV news correspondents.

I do not reserve such charity, alas, for Daily Mirror columnist, Carole Malone.

She described Brenda as a “cowardly bully”, “piece of work” and suggested “her own life is so lonely, so miserable, so poisoned that she wants others to suffer the same”, suggesting “she’s just a twisted, fecked up bitch who gets her kicks from hurting people”.

Well, maybe you’re partly right Carole. I’m going to suggest, at the end, she was very lonely and miserable indeed.

"I love you mum and I will miss you forever". That's the last Facebook post from Brenda's son, Ben.

I’m not, however, going to tell you what I think of you, Carole. That would merely be replicating the grievous and despicable offence I’m accusing you of.

Instead, I’ll leave it to one of Brenda’s alleged Tweets, suggesting and hoping that you “suffer for the rest of your miserable life".

RIP Brenda Leyland, wherever you may be.

  3. Thank you for that x And is not Carole Malone an evil person herself, her words unwarranted and untrue, no better than the McCann trolls she despises so much.

  4. Lets see if editorial policies allow Martin Brunt to publicly state that he really is devastated and hurt by the death of Brenda Leyland.
The only people that should have dealt with anyone on this dossier are the police and only the police.

The consequences of door stepping tactics in a police matter was a step too far.

    RIP Brenda Leyland.

  6. Let us wait and see if Martin Brunt is devastated and hurt by the passing of Brenda. What a shock to be hounded by a well known Journalist who should have left this apparently 80 page Dossier to the Police. Gerry McCann claims this to have come from a Source So what Gerry tells us is true?. Also Gerry wanted all internet Trolls to be taken to Court, Well he is barking up the wrong Tree. May God forgive them for their lies....... RIP Brenda

  8. I wonder if "Hacked Off" will make a statement about the hounding of this member of the public as per this piece by one of it's spokesman a few days ago. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/oct/02/leveson-gerry-mccann-media-stories-before-truth

    1. Strangely enough the 'Hacked Off campaign ' have been utterly SILENT on this tragedy. The irony isn't lost on the populace I can tell you. The hypocrisy on display is staggering, just staggering. Another own goal by the McCann P.R. machine.

  9. Now ,I await with GREAT interest, how this devastating event will be reported by ALL media outlets, lets hope a lot of people will now reap what they have so actively "sown" the past 7 years!!! I am really so sorry this lady, with I admit simillar thoughts on this debacle ,been driven to end her life,so so sad.RIP

  10. If I am not much mistaken Kate McCann said that she wanted Dr Goncalo Amaral to feel fear and be miserable, and all he had done was to search for her daughter. So that is OK, but poor Brenda's similar tweet about the parents is enough to justify hounding her to her death? Is that correct, Martin Brunt?

  11. She was "outed" by the dossier compilers who asked to remain anonymous. How about people start putting some of the blame on those Twitter users who are actually the abusive trolls?

  12. Everyone is entitled to their opinion; it's unfair that she was singled out and bullied for having one. Why don't these journos oust the hideous 4chan posters; oh yea that's right they're scared of them. Poor lady, didn't deserve this, how tragic for her family, sincere condolences.

  16. Well said, I agree with everything you have written. It seems that pro Mcanns can make any comment they like. It is time that the media were made to stop hounding people and interfering with police cases, they are like dogs with bones and continually ruin people's lives. They will not regret their actions here even if it has cost Brenda Leyland her life. I hope now that they will leave her Son alone and not throw him into the public domain.

  18. So there's a 'Prp Mcann' camp now? I think the insensitivity and hatred that has been directed their way is Wrong and deeply hurtful, you'd think the loss of a child in such a tragic way would be enough suffering enough, but you clearly think peddling speculation helps? Brenda Leyland was foolish to make remarks and sadly her punishment was wildly disproportionate to the remarks she made, but surely it highlights a wider issue?

  19. The McCanns do not deserve, have not deserved, will never deserve to be treated in the way that they have been by people like Ms Leyland. Not that I've read any of her tweets but that gives me just about the same amount of knowledge of her activities as she had of the McCanns'. When you know nothing about a situation it is foolish to comment upon it, period. It is very stupid to make judgemental comments, and it is plainly wrong to comment on a case which is under judicial investigation. What did Brenda know about the happenings the night that Maddie disappeared? - absolutely nothing. Her opinions were worthless and she should have kept them to herself, like all trolls should. She indulged in an improper use of technology, was found out and has paid the price. It is she who is the transgressor, not the McCanns. Oh, I've just been making comments about a woman about whom I know nothing. Must be catching.

MADELEINE and her siblings did not deserve what was done to them, Kate and Gerry pushed themselves in the limelight.

    6. Someone wrote " The McCanns do not deserve " So what do they deserve ? A medal for gross child neglect, leaving their children 3 years old home alone, while you go out wine and dine, that deserve a medal in your mind ?
Also Did any of the McCann's go out to look for their missing child ?
Did Kate help the police with answering the 48 questions ?
Did Garry and Kate not spend the money from their poor little girls fund on private matters like good life style, and mortgage ?
Did Kate not write in her book " I could not make love to Garry " Was she only thinking about sex at this very grave time ?
      I can go one her.
So what they deserve ? They are clearly concealing important information about their daughter whereabout.

Regarding Gerry and Kate McCann - why have the other two children remained in their custody? #childneglect Under current Govt/Social Svcs directive, children are being taken away from parents that pose future harm to their children. These parent did far worse than 'future harm,' they committed historical neglect. And what of the other parents that also left their children alone that night? . . .

    1. Very well said anon. I don't care what your opinion is, everyone is entitled to one. However if you become hateful and abusive with your comments that is just wrong. Especially when you don't know the truth. We all may have assumptions of what we think happened but no one knows for sure.

As for this quote in your article "Many of these people express their opinions with a distinct lack of articulation; devoid of any literary prowess. Some, are unquestionably abusive, hurtful, insensitive and indeed, offensive. That doesn’t make them illegal."

You're wrong, if it becomes frequent enough to the point of harassment that IS illegal. I see no reason to praise this lady. She's nothing more than a bully and throwing so much negative into a situation (7 years later!) you really know nothing about isn't productive in anyway.

    2. Here/hear here/hear. Leyland made her choices but in the end couldn't live with them. Unlike the McCanns who face their mistakes every minute of every day of their lives, yet still carry on. Whose behaviour best conveys the rightness of their cause?

      Delete
    3. Exactly. We have choices to make in life and a path to follow Ive read most of the tweets she posted and am convinced she has medical issues
Suicide got her out of many years of tricky questions and being hounded on twitter How horrible that would be

      Delete
    4. Then I suggest that you try to help us all solving this case instead of just watching others trying. It will surely make you feel better. Start with the PJ files ! Communicate to others if you have found something in this crime case, that you believe has not been found or discussed earlier. I can assure you that this will indeed be intersting reading for you! The whole investigation is actually not only about finding Madeleine (which of course is important) as the McCanns have repeatingly told everybody for more than 7 years, who want to ask them questions with reference to their doings and whereabouts before and after Madeleine went missing in 2007. We all need to be serious about trying to understand what happened to this poor girl.

    1. Hmm....seems like the establishment have a ready made patsy to take the blame for this women's death (Brunt). This is very similar to the point of being uncanny to the nurse who died after receiving a prank phone call from Australian DJ's; Brunt antagonising the women instead of the DJ's, women ALLEGEDLY killing herself afterwards. This women's actions seem to be consistent with someone who was trying to get away from a terrible fate, why wouldn't she kill herself in her own home if that what she intended to do, why go to a hotel to do it (not that I believe for a second that she killed herself of course).

      Delete
    2. Indeed, Martin Brunt broadcast rather a lot of unhelpful and ludicrous information from PDL in the early days. He's expendable, but deserves nothing less

      Delete
    3. And the reason he deserves nothing less? Don't tell me the criminally insane have something on him which he would not want exposed to the public and therefore acts under coercion, that sound familiar?

    1. In the same way as the politically correct object to the term "child porn" in favour of the more politically correct term "child absue images" I find myself increasingly objecting to the term 'media whore'.

Its rather derogatory to compare a hard working whore, providing a valued service to an enthisiastic and apreciative client base with todays breed of copy and paste journalists.

Worse still, it implies that the content copied and pasted by main stream media journalists is appreciated and valued, equal to the services supplied by a decent whore, and I would argue, strongly, that this really isnt the case

the MSM are an irrelevance, occassionally entertaining, but for the most part about as welcome as dog shit on a carpet

  29. Any news or response from the hotel where she stayed?; any neighboring rooms hear anything?
I totally agree with the assertion that she stayed at the hotel to evade capture; there is no logical reason why she would not kill herself in her own home. I'd say the only truth we have been told so far by our sold-out and corrupt media bodies is that Brenda Leyland is dead, everything else is enigmatic and open to conspiracy.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Brenda was not hounded to death! She was asked a few questions from Martin Brunt who was very polite, as was she. She later invited Martin into her home. That's hardly being 'hounded'. Brenda obviously had serious issues. She sometimes tweeted about the McCanns from 7am to midnight. That is very unhealthy regardless of your opinion of the McCanns.

  31. The McCanns settled out of court for half a million pounds for accusations in the press which were "Hurtful and untruthful". The media have made accusations which were untruthful, and hurtful, against Brenda. Now what happens.
